Patrice Isley

Nige catches up with Patrice Isley in the US

Patrice Isley's "I Want You For Myself" was released on May 17, 2024.>>> Listen YOUTUBE

Following the late 2023 release of her track “Harvest For The World,” Robbie Vincent of Jazz FM praised Patrice Isley’s work, saying, ‘There are tracks that become iconic, shared with someone special, and they become a protected species.

This is one of them; it's very daring, but I think it works.’ Patrice received further acclaim within the soul community for her bold interpretation of Deniece Williams’ “Free,” completing a trilogy of cover songs with George Duke’s “I Want You For Myself.”

Patrice shared the background of the Duke cover: ‘Some time ago, Gary Hudgins, the producer and keyboardist behind the "Just Believe In Love" single on my debut album—who has also collaborated with Parliament, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Crystal Waters, Stevie Wonder, Najee, Dennis Chambers, and The Temptations—contacted me about a special song he felt was perfect for me.

We had previously worked together at Quantize Recordings in Baltimore, where I recorded vocals for their House Music tracks and performed live in Maryland and Washington, D.C. Gary was confident that despite its challenging vocal range, I could handle it.

While some might see Patrice as a ‘covers’ artist, many listeners are familiar with the original songs on her debut album, "Believe In Love," where she showcases her ability to connect with her audience. Her previous single "Better" won critical acclaim upon its release in 2022, and she received a similar response with "Patrice's Groove," which reached #11 on the SmoothJazzGlobal.com charts, proving her skill as a songwriter.

Rod Clements

Lindisfarne & Rod Clements

In 2024, the esteemed folk-rock group Lindisfarne embarks on a UK tour, marking 60 performances that include shows at O2 Academy venues in Bournemouth, Leicester, and London's Shepherd's Bush.

Known for classics like "Run For Home", "Meet Me On The Corner", and "Lady Eleanor", Lindisfarne, under the guidance of founding member Rod Clements, continues to captivate audiences more than five decades since their inception in the north east of England.

Rod Clements comments, “As long as people keep returning to our shows, we'll keep performing. We're excited to be performing at O2 Academy theatres for the first time in 2024.” This tour aligns with new releases celebrating the band’s legacy and that of founding member Alan Hull.

History of Lindisfarne

Lindisfarne’s history is rich with hits that have become staples in British music culture, including "Meet Me On The Corner", "Lady Eleanor", "Run For Home", and "Fog On The Tyne". These songs have contributed to the band's lasting impact since their formation in 1970 by Alan Hull and Rod Clements.

Lindisfarne is credited with a distinctive sound that merges acoustic and electric elements, which played a crucial role in their successful albums and live performances.

Their 1972 album ‘Fog On The Tyne’ was the UK's best-selling album of the year, thanks in part to the hit "Meet Me On The Corner" penned by Clements. Their influence continued with subsequent albums and their reputation as live performers solidified their status as festival and concert favorites.

The current Lindisfarne lineup features Rod Clements, Steve Daggett, Paul Smith, Ian Thomson, and Dave Hull-Denholm, showcasing a mix of original and longstanding members. They promise a tour filled with their globally recognized songs, delivered with the unique energy that has defined their live shows since the 1970s.
